PetroChina’s Chemical Wastewater Retrofit Project in Inner Mongolia
Chemical wastewater is highly toxic and exhibits complex water quality, making it a typical challenge in the industry. The original process employed in this chemical project had poor shock resistance; when exposed to toxic and hazardous substances, its operation became unstable, frequently resulting in effluent exceeding regulatory limits for formaldehyde and COD, thus failing to meet environmental standards. Moreover, conventional processes generate large volumes of sludge, leading to high costs for hazardous‑waste sludge disposal and placing significant pressure on the company’s environmental compliance and operational maintenance efforts.
After retrofitting with Zhongkesanshui’s LSP technology, the project has achieved a comprehensive upgrade. The system’s resistance to toxins and shock loads has been significantly enhanced, with formaldehyde tolerance reaching 500 mg/L, and COD removal efficiency markedly improved, ensuring stable effluent compliance. Sludge production has been substantially reduced, minimizing hazardous waste generation at the source, effectively lowering operational and sludge disposal costs for the enterprise, and delivering multiple benefits: compliance, cost reduction, and low carbon emissions.
Influent water quality: COD≤3000mg/l, NH 3 -N≤50mg/l
Effluent water quality: COD≤50mg/l, NH 3 -N≤5mg/l
Processing capacity: 2000 m³/d
Original treatment process: Anaerobic + MBBR + Sedimentation Process
Post-modification process: LSP process
Effect: After the retrofit, the COD removal rate improved significantly, and sludge reduction was substantial; in particular, the system’s tolerance to formaldehyde increased to 500 mg/L.
